
This training gives you a CNESST competency card: Health and Safety – Manual felling (234-361) issued by the joint prevention committee of the forestry sector.
MANDATORY equipment:
• Safety helmet conforms to EN 397 or CAN/CSA-Z94.1 standard;
• Safety glasses or a face shield or both;
• Hearing protectors (earmuffs or plugs) conforming to CAN/CSA-Z94.2-02;
• Gloves or single-finger mittens with good grip and hand protection;
• Pants certified to CAN/BNQ 1923-450-M91, category A or EN 381-5 or ASTM F3325 category A, C or D;
• Safety shoes with non-slip soles and chainsaw protection bearing the chainsaw symbol (EN) or the green fir tree (CSA).

- - Method of starting and transporting the chainsaw
- - Preparations for slaughter (DISEP)
- - Basic felling technique: type of cuts and felling lines; role of the hinge; ergonomic position during felling; drilling technique; use of different felling tools

PLEASE BRING ANY PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT YOU ALREADY OWN TO ALLOW THE TRAINER TO VERIFY COMPLIANCE DURING THE THEORY DAY. THE EQUIPMENT WILL BE MANDATORY FOR THE PRACTICAL DAY IN THE FOREST.
